LinkedIn Marketing Tips for Beginners

If you are a VA, Coach or Consultant looking to build your brand awareness on LinkedIn, and gain visibility for yourself, here are five marketing tips you might find useful:

1:) Update your profile.

Your LinkedIn profile is vital to building brand awareness and gaining visibility. Your profile can be made to adequately inform clients about the basics- who you are, what you do, who you serve and the results you provide.

That way, you can attract clients with specific interests who can know what to expect when they make the decision to follow you.

Your LinkedIn profile is made up of different sections that include your bio, banner, skill, About section, featured section.

These all play important roles in helping you gain visibility on the platform. Bottom line, you want to optimize your profile such that you are easily searchable and found.

2:) Update your banner.

You might want to get rid of green banner on you LinkedIn page if you haven't done so yet. You can go to canva and create an optimized banner template. Make sure to specify who you serve and what you do. Put a call to action on your banner so your visitors know what action to take when they visit your profile.

3.) Start creating content.

Out of about 820 million users on LinkedIn, only over 3 million consistently create content on the platform. You have to be one of those people who create content consistently if you intend to attract clients. Bear in mind, different kinds of content are suited for different platforms.

If you are not sure what content works on LinkedIn, search for influencers in your niche who already create great content on the platform. Whatever content resonates with their audience would probably work for you too. You don't need to copy and paste their work, but you can get ideas on what kinds of content to create and do your own thing.

After you create content, you would get feedback that could help you better judge what kinds of content to create eventually. The more you put out content, you can see from the audience's reaction what works or not and make necessary adjustments.

4.) Join and engage in LinkedIn groups.

You can find several of them by using the LinkedIn search bar. Engaging with people in such groups builds strategic relationships and better helps you create brand awareness. Make sure to not only join and be a spectator but engage. Drop comments, leave your opinions, share suggestions. Never let yourself be held back by fear. Your opinion counts. Most importantly, audiences can trace your comments or opinions back to you, thus exposing your brand.

5.) Make use of your featured section.

This is a part of the LinkedIn profile that is not known to many or used by many. Yet it could be essential in creating your brand awareness and getting clients. You can tailor it to benefit you by making it your LinkedIn sales funnel. Add links to your freebies, your offers, your best posts as part of your featured section. You might also want to use attractive graphics for your featured section. For instance, use bright colors to make it pop. That is always appealing to users.
